For a day, keep a journal of all the verbal interactions you experience. In the margin of the pages, write down the function(s) each interaction accomplished.
By function I mean
· Asking: Engaging and seeking information.
· Informing: Giving information.
· Asserting: Stating something as true.
· Proposing: Putting forward argument.
· Summarizing: Reflecting your understanding.
· Checking: Testing understanding.
· Building: Adding to existing ideas.
· Including: Bringing in others.
In an essay of at least THREE paragraphs identify which function of verbal communication you use most and least frequently (be sure to include definitions & examples). Why do you think this is the case? Please remember to submit your paper in ESSAY format, you do not need to list the functions, but rather, talk about them in your paper.
