Performance Report Guidelines
· ALL REPORTS MUST BE TYPED
· ALL REPORTS MUST FOLLOW THE FOMAT BELOW. Write body of report with appropriate section titles and divide answers by A, B, C, and D. See end of format for example.
· Cover page containing: play title, playwright’s name (composer and lyricist if a musical or if original music is included), your name, date, class number and section, and the instructor’s name.
· Two page minimum in length (not including the cover page) 1.5 spacing, 12pt Arial or Times New Roman font, 1” margins.
· Free of spelling and grammar errors.
You are expected to
· Present a thoughtful report, which has a logical structure and overall unity.
· Proof read your report
Writing a performance report is an exercise designed to help you discover your critical eye. Use the following questions as guides in helping you write a coherent, easy to follow, insightful report. Remember, your opinion is only as valuable as the knowledge it is based on; your grade will be determined not only on what you think but why you think it.
USE THE FOLLOWING SECTION TITLES AND LETTERING AS THE FORMAT OF YOUR REPORT
INTRODUCTION: 5 points
A. What was your state of mind when you first began watching the play?
B. What was your initial impression of the scenic design?
C. What was the time of day when you watched the production?
D. What was your overall impression of the production?

Using examples from the performance and your own values to evaluate whether the play was art, entertainment or both (most plays are both). Compare and contrast the following differences between art and entertainment.
